KAHLUA 
4 c. water
4 c. sugar
1 vanilla bean
2 oz. dark roast instant coffee
1 fifth 80 proof vodka

Mix 3 cups water with 4 cups sugar; boil 20 minutes. Split vanilla bean lengthwise, add to sugar and water mixture. Let stand until cool.

Mix 1 cup boiling water with 2 ounces dark roast instant coffee. Let cool. When both mixtures are completely cool, add vodka.

Seal in 1/2 gallon container and let stand two weeks. Strain over cloth into bottles.
