Sift:

1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream together:

1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. peanut butter

Gradually add to butter mixture:

1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar

Cream together with:

1 unbeaten egg
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix well. Blend in dry ingredients, gradually mix. Shape dough into balls using 1 teaspoon for each.

Roll in granulated sugar. Place in ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 minutes. Remove immediately. Press 1 Hershey Kiss into center of each cookie, pressing down until cookie cracks on top of kiss. Bake in 375 degree oven for 2-5 minutes until golden brown.
