1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg, beaten
1/2 c. peanut butter

Sift together flour, soda and salt. Cream shortening and sugar, adding beaten egg. Add vanilla and peanut butter, mixing well. Shape into small balls, placing on cookie sheets. Press down with fork dipped in flour. Bake at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes. Remove to cool. Store in cookie jar.
