1 egg
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. warm water
1/2 c. sour milk
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. cocoa

To make sour milk, add 1/2 tablespoon vinegar or lemon juice to 1/2 cup milk. Let stand 5 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place all ingredients in a bowl and beat until smooth. Pour into 8-inch square or round cake pan. Bake for 30 minutes.
