LENTIL CHOWDER 
3 c. lentils
1 lg. green pepper
1 lg. onion
1/3 c. butter
2 cans stewed tomatoes
1/2 tsp. pepper

Combine lentils in 2 quarts water. Cook 30 minutes on medium heat. Chop pepper and onion; cook in butter until tender. Combine all ingredients. Cook 30 minutes. Serves 6. Optional: Add 1 cup rice and 2 cups water to extend recipe. Serves 10.
