RED TIN ROCK BUNS | |
1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. sugar 1 egg, slightly beaten 1 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, ground 1/4 tsp. cloves, ground 1/2 tsp. nutmeg, ground 1 c. chopped fruit (raisins, dates, figs, apricots) 3 tbsp. chopped peel or citron (opt.) 2 tbsp. milk (or sherry) if needed Chopped nuts, if desired Oven temperature 375 degrees. Cook 12 to 15 minutes. Cream together butter and sugar until thoroughly mixed and soft. Add and stir in slightly beaten egg. Sift all dried ingredients together, add 1/3 at a time. Mix well. Don't over mix or beat. Add milk if needed. Dough is stiff. Drop by spoonful on greased baking sheet. Found in "Sweet To Remember" by Anne Weale #879. |
