JAPANESE FRUIT CAKE 
4 eggs
2 c. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1 c. Crisco or butter
3 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. milk (cow's milk)
2 tsp. vanilla flavoring

Beat eggs, sugar and Crisco well. Add milk and flour, beat well. Make 2 layers plain - 1/2 of batter. In the other half of batter, put 1 teaspoon of ground cloves and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Add 1 cup of raisins. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.

FILLING:

1 c. water
2 c. sugar
2 oranges
1/2 of a grated coconut with 1 tbsp. flour

Bring to a good boil until it thickens a little. Put on cake while it is hot. Sprinkle coconut on top.
