BUTTERMILK BREAD 
5 1/2 - 6 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
3 tbsp. sugar
2 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 pkg. dry yeast
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. water
1 stick butter

Place 2 cups flour and remaining dry ingredients in bowl. Heat buttermilk, water and butter until butter is melted - cool to 105 degrees. Add to dry ingredients. Add flour to make soft dough. Knead in floured surface for 5 minutes.

Place in bowl - cover. Let rise in warm place until double. Punch down and knead once again. Separate dough and place in loaf pans. Let rise in warm place until double. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 25 minutes. (2 loaves)

VARIATIONS: ONION BREAD:

Add 1 package Lipton Onion Soup Mix to dry ingredients.

WHEAT BREAD:

Use 2 cups whole wheat flour and 4 1/2 - 5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour.
