1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1 egg
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Blend ingredients well. For holidays, add food coloring. Butter bottom of glass and dip into sugar. Make dough into little balls and press down with glass. Bake at 350 degrees.
