CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/3 c. softened butter
1/2 c. shortening (recommend sunflower oil)
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips (recommend Nestle's)

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix sugar, butter, shortening, egg and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients. (Batter will be very hard to work with.) Mix well.

Take approximately 1 tablespoonful of batter, roll in palms and slightly flatten. Place them about 2" to 3" apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until golden brown, 8 to 12 minutes. Cool and remove. Place on a plate until they are completely cool, before packing.
