TURNOVER APPLE PIE 
5 c. thin sliced tart apples
Pastry for 8 inch single crust pie
1/2 c. sugar
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
Dash of salt
1 tbsp. lemon juice
2 tbsp. butter
Vanilla ice cream

Fill pan with apples, layering them flat and roll out pastry, fit over top of apples and trim edges. Bake at 425 degrees 25 minutes. Remove from oven and invert on warm serving plate. Lift up pie pan, carefully scrape apples from crust and mix with apples left in pan, mashing with spoon. Stir in sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, butter and salt. Spread apple mixture on crust. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and dot with butter. Serve warm with ice cream. Serves 6.
