FRENCH STEW 
3 lbs. stew meat
3 lg. carrots, sliced
1 lg. can onions
1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes
1 can sm. peas
1 can consomme
1 c. water
4 tbsp. minute tapioca
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1/2 c. bread crumbs
1 tbsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

Combine all ingredients and bake in a covered Dutch oven 6 to 8 hours at 250 degrees or in a large crock pot 8 to 10 hours on low. (Freezes well, good served with wild rice and gelatin salad.)
