“HURST 15 BEAN SOUP” IS IN:

HURST 15 BEAN SOUP 
The flavor is absolutely fantastic. Will become a favorite!

1 lb. ham OR ham hocks OR smoked sausage
1 cup onion, chopped
1 (15 oz.) can stewed OR diced tomatoes
1 tsp. chili powder
juice of 1 lemon
1 to 2 cloves garlic, minced

Soak beans overnight. Drain water. Add more water to cover. Cook UNCOVERED for 2 1/2 hours on reduced heat but still simmering.

After the simmering period ADD: onion, tomatoes, chili powder, lemon, garlic and ham hock or sausage. Simmer another 30 minutes. LAST 1-2 MINUTES: add salt and pepper, to taste.
