OLD-FASHIONED COOKIES | |
2/3 cup Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk 1/2 cup (1 stick) melted butter or other shortening 1 tsp. vanilla 1 egg, well beaten 2 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour 3 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt Mix sweetened condensed milk, butter, vanilla, and egg. Sift flour. Measure. Add baking powder and salt and sift again. Add gradually to first mixture to form a stiff dough. Chill. Roll 1/8-inch thick on slightly floured board. Cut with floured cookie cutter. Sprinkle with sugar, coconut flakes, or currants. Place on greased baking sheet. Bake in moderate oven (375°F.) 10 minutes or until brown. Remove from pan at once. Makes about 48 cookies. |
