PRUNE CAKE 
1 cup prunes (cooked and finely chopped)
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup oil
3 eggs
2 cups plain flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cut buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon

Heat oven to 325°F. Grease generously and lightly dust tube pan with flour. Sift together flour, soda, salt, sugar, nutmeg, allspice, and cinnamon. Add eggs one at a time. Add oil and buttermilk. Mix well. Add nuts, prunes, and vanilla. Beat for 2 minutes. Pour batter into prepared pan.

Bake 1 hour.

Topping:

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup butter
1 tbsp. Karo syrup
1 tsp. vanilla

Cook 5 to 7 minutes. Pour over cake.
