YEAST BISCUITS 
1 c. warm water
1 pkg. dry yeast
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. soft shortening or butter
3 tbsp. sugar
2 1/2 c. flour

Dissolve yeast in warm water with 2 tablespoons sugar. Add shortening, salt, 1 tablespoon sugar and flour; mix well. Pour out on floured board and knead a few times, then cut out and dip in melted butter in pan. Turn over and let rise in warm place until double (about 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours). Bake at 425 degrees until brown. Makes about 1 1/2 dozen rolls, biscuits, etc.
