BUTTER FROSTING 
1/3 c. soft butter
3 c. sifted powdered sugar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 tbsp. milk or cream

Blend in bowl butter, vanilla, milk, and 1 cup powdered sugar; mix. Stir in the other 2 cups powdered sugar. Beat until frosting is fluffy. If frosting is too thin, add more powdered sugar. Make enough frosting for a 2-layer cake or 1 oblong cake or 3 dozen cupcakes.
