BUTTER CAKE AND ICING 
2/3 c. butter (butter)
1 3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. milk
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 3/4 c. sifted flour

Cream butter, sugar, eggs. Combine dry ingredients; blend in dry ingredients with liquid. Alternate. Pour into 2 (9 inch) round cake pans of 9x12-inch cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees.

BUTTERCREAM FROSTING:

2 c. Crisco shortening
1/2 c. water
2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
2 lb. confectioners sugar

Cream shortening, water and vanilla; gradually add sugar and salt. Blend at high speed until smooth. Decrease or increase water for desired consistency.
