BUTTER CAKE AND ICING 
2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
4 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream sugar and butter; add eggs, beating after each one. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to batter alternately with milk and vanilla. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

ICING:

2 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. butter
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream sugars with butter. Add milk and cook to soft ball stage. Add soda and vanilla. Beat until creamy. Do not overbeat.
