BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
Cucumbers - Lg. Pyrex bowl full (4 or 5 lg.)
2 onions
2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. turmeric
1/8 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 tsp. mustard seed
1/4 tsp. celery seed
1 1/4 c. vinegar

Slice cucumbers thin, also onions. Place both in deep bowl and sprinkle salt over and through them. Put in ice cubes and store overnight to crisp. Next day, drain off all liquid.

Mix dry ingredients and add vinegar. Put cucumbers and onions in large pot. Pour liquid mixture in. Bring to a boil stirring occasionally. When boiling over entire surface take off flame. Place in sterile jars. Fill with juice.
