NAVAJO SQUAW BREAD 
3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/3 c. warm water
3/4 c. shortening

Mix flour, salt and baking powder. (Or use self-rising flour.) Add water, knead by hand until dough is soft. Melt shortening in skillet until hot. Pinch off small pieces of dough and flatten. Drop into hot shortening. (Dough should be similar to a tortilla when you put it in.) After it is fried it will puff up and be lightly browned.
