TONI'S SHORTBREAD "DUTCH"
COOKIES
 
These are a favorite!! Very pretty at Holiday time with red, green or colored nonpareils.

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix ingredients well. Divide in half. Shape into TWO 1 1/2-inch rolls. Refrigerate for a couple of hours.

Slice dough into 1/4-inch pieces.

Note: You may at this point dip one side into colored sugar.

Place on cookie sheet 2-inches apart. Bake at 350°F till slightly golden -- 10 minutes or less.
