Mix together:

1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Cut in:

1/2 c. shortening, chilled
1/2 c. peanut butter, chilled

Add:

1/4 c. light Karo syrup

Place by teaspoon sized balls on a cookie sheet and flatten with the bottom of a glass. Place dabs of peanut butter on each flattened circle. Flatten equal sized dough balls and place on top of peanut butter. Press edges with a fork to seal. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
