APPLE COBBLER
This recipe is good for the budget because it uses fresh apples instead of the expensive canned apples. So easy and quick to prepare!

4 med. apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 stick butter
1/4 tsp. ginger (optional)
few drops vanilla
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. Bisquick
1/4 c. milk

Combine apples, butter, sugar and cinnamon in a microwavable bowl. Microwave, stirring once each minute, until apples are softened.

For crust topping, stir together Bisquick and milk to make soft dough. Drop dough over apples.

Bake in a preheated 350°F oven until brown, about 25-30 minutes (may differ in your oven).

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.

Apple Cobbler

This is a good recipe for a quick dessert treat, that satisfies.

We used fresh picked apples from the orchard (Cortland), reduced butter to 1/2 stick, and added a pinch of nutmeg to above ingredients.

Used an egg wash and sprinkle of granulated sugar on the crust. The cobbler was a nice golden yellow, with some sparkle from the sugar, at the recommended 350°F and in about 20 minutes.

The filling was a bit sparse or thin in a regular pie pan. My bad for using the pie pan. I recommend to either increase the apples about 50% or perhaps use a ramekin that is deeper and smaller in diameter than standard pie pan.

Easy to prepare for never making a cobbler before, weird that the crust is not covering the apples. Hubby digging in now... and says it really good but would be really good on vanilla ice cream.
