I love this recipe but instead of corn flakes I use frosted flakes. Everyone loves it.

 Betty (Arizona) says:
Instead of the cream of chicken soup, I use Campbell's cheddar cheese soup mix (also they have a nacho one that is a bit more spicy if you like that taste). Omit the shredded cheese then add crushed potato chips for the topping.

I have also made it with 2 big bags of broccoli, cauliflower, carrot veggies mixed, fat free sour creme, low fat cream celery soup and low fat cheese. Its vegetarian and Healthier and pretty tasty

Awesome recipe! It needs to bake a little longer than the recipe says. I'd say give it at least an hour. Also by adding diced ham you can make it a main dish instead of just a side!!!

I made this recipe for years and my family loves it. I have altered the recipe and my family loves it more. What I do is use tater tots (frozen) instead of hashbrowns. I also replaced the cornflake topping by using frenchs fried onions.

You must try regular Lays potato chips crushed on top. It gives the extra delight to the casserole. I also make it the night before and it yummy.

I crush up Lays cheddar cheese potate chips. It puts it over the top. There will not be left overs.

 Jami (California) says:
I have used crumbled up tater tots when the grocery store was out of hash browns it worked great and the already toasty outside added a nice texture. I also like to sprinkle french fried onions to the top of the casserole.

My family has enjoyed this recipe for YEARS! If it's not on the table during the family get togethers and holiday meals, it's just not the same and everyone complains. Everyone looks forward to it.
