1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. oatmeal
Raisins and nuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream together sugar and shortening. Add eggs and beat. Sift in flour and salt. Add oatmeal, nuts and raisins. Drop by teaspoonfuls and bake for 8 minutes.
