WALNUT SQUARES 
1ST PART:

1 c. brown sugar
2 c. flour
1 c. butter

Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add flour, salt and mix thoroughly. Pat this in pan.

2ND PART:

1 c. brown sugar
12 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
4 eggs
2 c. nuts
2 c. dates or coconut

Beat eggs thoroughly. Add sugar, fold in flour, baking powder and salt. Add nuts and dates. Mix well. Spread over first mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
