CHESS SQUARES 
1 box butter cake mix
1 stick butter, melted
1 egg
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1/4 tsp. almond or 1/2 tsp. vanilla (don't use both)

Roll into a dough and press into 9 x 13 inch pan.

SECOND LAYER:

1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, room temperature
3 eggs
1 box confectioners' sugar, sifted

Mix in mixer until smooth. Spread on top of dough mixture. Bake at 300 degrees for 50-60 minutes or until crust browns well. Chill, cut, and serve.
