CHRISTMAS NUTS 
1 1/2 c. blanched almonds
2 c. walnuts
2 egg whites
1 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. butter

Toast nuts in slow oven 325 degree oven until light brown. Beat egg whites and dash of salt until soft mounds form. Gradually add sugar and beat until stiff peaks.

Fold nuts into meringue. Melt butter in jelly roll pan. Spread nut mixture on top. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes, turning about every 10 minutes until brown and butter is gone.
