1 c. shortening
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
2 1/4 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
Vanilla

Cream together shortening and sugars; add egg and beat well. Sift together dry ingredients; stir into creamed mixture. Add nuts. Shape in rolls about 2 1/2" across. Wrap in waxed paper. Chill thoroughly. Slice thin and bake on greased cookie sheet at 375 degrees about 5 to 7 minutes.
