CHILDREN'S BREAD | |
1 tbsp. yeast 1/2 c. warm water 1 tbsp. maple syrup 1/4 c. powdered milk 1 egg 1 3/4 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. soft butter Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add maple syrup and powdered milk. Mix. Let stand for 10 minutes. Add egg and 1 cup flour. Beat for 2 minutes. Add salt, soft butter, and 3/4 cup flour. Knead. (Add flour if too sticky to handle.) Let rise in oiled, covered bowl until double, about 1/2 hour. Punch down. Knead in bowl a bit. Shape whole or biscuits. Brush with melted butter. Let rise 15 minutes. Bake at 400 degrees for 40 minutes for whole, 20 minutes for biscuits. Let cool. Eat. |
