BOJANGLES BISCUITS 
3 c. self-rising flour
3 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. confectioners sugar
1/2 c. solid vegetable shortening
1 1/4 c. buttermilk
1/4 c. melted butter

Stir the flour, baking powder, and sugar together. Cut in the shortening until pieces are about the size of grains of rice; stir in buttermilk. Knead a few times; roll out onto a floured board to 3/4-inch thickness. (Be careful not to work dough too much or add too much flour or you'll have dry biscuits.)

Brush the tops of biscuits with the melted butter. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 12 minutes in a preheated 450 degree oven. Makes 12 biscuits.
