CHOCOLATE POUND CAKE 
1/2 lb. butter
1 c. Crisco
3 c. sugar
3 c. flour (not self-rising)
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. cocoa
5 eggs
1 c. milk

Cream butter and Crisco to which sugar has been added. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa. Add eggs, one at a time, beating 2 minutes after each one. Alternate dry ingredients with milk. Beat until smooth. Bake in 325 degree oven for 1-1 1/2 hours. Ice with favorite glaze or frosting.

TIP: Pound cakes do well in a tube or Bundt pan, greased and floured.
