SNICKERDOODLES 
1 c. soft shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. flour, sifted
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix together thoroughly shortening, sugar and eggs. Sift together and stir in flour, soda, salt and cream of tartar. Chill dough 3 or 4 hours. Roll dough into balls the size of small walnuts. Roll in mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
