YOGURT DESSERT | |
2 1/2 c. sugar 3 c. water 2 tsp. lemon juice 3 eggs 1 c. sugar 1 c. yogurt 1 c. sifted flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. grated lemon peel 1 tsp. grated orange peel Whipped cream 1. Combine sugar, water and lemon juice in a saucepan. Cook over a low heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved. Simmer for 15 minutes. Cool. Set aside. 2. Beat eggs with the 1 cup of sugar. Add yogurt, flour, baking powder and peels. Beat until smooth. 3. Pour into a greased 9" square cake tin. Bake at 400 degrees for 1/2 hour. 4. Before cake has cooled cut into desired number of servings. Pour syrup over the hot cake, cover and let stand until all syrup is absorbed. Chill. 5. Serve with whipped cream. Serves 8. |
