SWISS STEAK 
3 lb. round steak, 2" thick
1/2 c. cooking oil
Salt & pepper to taste
2 onions, sliced
2 c. cooked tomatoes (sauce or juice can be used)

Season meat and roll in flour. Brown onion in oil and remove. Then brown steak on both sides. Place onions on top of steak, add tomatoes. Cover and cook slowly for 2 1/2 to 3 hours or bake in oven at 350 degrees. Remove steak to hot platter; serve with gravy made from dripping in pan.
