BEEF STROGANOFF
1 1/2 lbs. sirloin or round steak
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
2 tbsp. flour
2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/4 c. (1/2 stick) butter
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 bay leaf
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/2 c. dry red or white wine
2/3 c. (4 oz.) mushroom slices, drained
1 c. commercial sour cream

Combine flour, salt and pepper; pound mixture into steak. Cut meat into 1 1/2" x 1" strips. Melt butter in skillet; add meat and brown on all sides. Add onion and garlic powder and continue cooking until onions are transparent. Add remaining ingredients except sour cream; simmer 45 minutes, or until meat is tender. Add sour cream just before serving and simmer only until the cream is heated. Serve over rice or noodles. Makes 6 servings. (May be made ahead, except for adding sour cream and you can freeze it for future use.)
