BASIC ROLL DOUGH 
1 pkg. yeast
1/4 c. lukewarm water
1/2 tsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. sugar
2 tbsp. shortening
1 c. boiling water
4 c. flour
1 egg, beaten

Dissolve yeast in water. Add sugar and set aside. Mix salt, sugar, shortening and water. Add 2 cups flour and beat thoroughly. Add egg. Add yeast solution and beat.

Add remaining flour. Stir until smooth. Cover and place in refrigerator. Refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight. Shape into dinner or sweet rolls. Let rise 1 hour. Bake 10-12 minutes at 400 degrees.
