1/2 tbsp. butter 2 lbs. round chuck sirloin steak, cut 1 inch thick 1/2 lb. sliced mushrooms (or sm. can) 1/2 green pepper, sliced 1 lb. can tomatoes, drained and chopped (reserve the juice) 1 env. onion soup mix 1/4 tsp. salt Pepper 1/2 c. juice from tomatoes 1 tbsp. A-1 steak sauce 1 tbsp. cornstarch 20 inch heavy duty foil wrap Spread center of foil wrap with the shortening. Cut steak into serving portions. Arrange in foil, slightly overlapping each portion. Sprinkle with onion soup, mushrooms, green pepper, and tomatoes. Season. Mix juice, steak sauce, and cornstarch. Pour over meat and vegetables. Bring foil up over and fold edges to seal tightly. Bake 2 hours in 375 degree oven. Makes 4 generous servings. |
