BROWNIES... A BAR COOKIE 
2/3 c. shortening
4 sq. baking chocolate (or 8 tbsp. cocoa plus 4 tbsp. shortening)
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts
1 1/2 c. flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Oven 350 degrees for shiny metal; 325 degrees for dark metal. Melt shortening and chocolate on low heat. Pour into bowl. Add sugar, eggs, vanilla and nuts. Mix. Sift flour, add baking power and salt. Mix. Pour into greased and floured pan. Bake 25 minutes.
