BOILED RAISIN CAKE 
1 c. raisins
2 c. water
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1 3/4 c. flour
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Boil raisins and water for 30 minutes. After cooling, add soda to raisins and water. Cream shortening and sugar and mix in egg. Sift and mix flour, spices, and a little salt. Mix all together and bake in 350 degree oven for approximately 30 minutes or until it passes toothpick test.
