1 c. seedless raisins
3 c. water
1 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt

Boil raisins in water until one cup juice is left. Add soda and let cool. Cream sugar and butter. Add egg and spices. Add cup raisin juice (with soda). Add flour to mixture then raisins (have raisins well floured before adding). Bake at 350 degrees approximately 1 hour.
