DESI'S SOULFUL BOWLFUL OF
SPAGHETTI

1 (16 oz.) pkg. thin or thick spaghetti, cooked by package directions (break in half)
1 lb. ground beef (or ground turkey
3 or 4 sweet Italian sausages, sliced 1/2-inch (or remove casing and cook with meat)
1 small sweet onion, chopped
1 small green pepper, chopped
1 small zucchini, chopped
1 (8 oz.) pkg. fresh button mushrooms, sliced (no stems)
2 tsp. chopped garlic
1/2 tsp. each: pepper, seasoning salt, sugar, onion powder, garlic powder*
1 (15 oz.) can spaghetti sauce (Hunt's regular flavor)
1/4 cup water
2 tsp. each: ketchup, steak sauce (any brand, I like Bold & Spicy)
1 tsp. hot sauce

Note: All the seasonings are approximate. I just sprinkle a light coating of each over the entire top of my meat mixture. Add or reduce salt to taste.

Cook vegetables until slightly tender, add garlic and cook 2 minutes.

Remove vegetables from pan and in same pan, add meats, cook till brown and drain grease.

Add seasonings, mix. Return vegetables to meats and add spaghetti sauce, water, ketchup, steak sauce and hot sauce.

Cook on medium-low heat, covered, about 30 minutes, stirring often to keep from sticking.

Spoon over well drained pasta in a bowl. Served with garlic toast and a side salad and you've got a great dinner.

Makes about 6 to 8 servings.

Ooooweee Child!!!

WOW! If I could.....would give this 50 stars. No one - BUT NO ONE can touch this spaghetti sauce. I have one with 16 ingredients from Southern Living that I have used for years. It is being tossed. The only change I made....was to cut recipe in 1/2. (Thankfully, have enough left over - for tomorrow.) No Italian Restaurant- can touch this. Still cannot believe how fantastic this taste. As in my previous post... PLEASE... submit ANY other recipes you might have.
