SWEET SOUR RED CABBAGE 
1 med. head red cabbage (about 2 lb.)
1 sm. onion, diced
1 apple, cut into quarters
1 3/4 c. water
1/2 c. mild vinegar
1 tsp. sugar
4 whole cloves
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tbsp. flour

Grate or slice cabbage into small pieces. Brown onion in 2 tablespoons shortening. Add all ingredients except flour. Cover, cook until cabbage is tender, about 1 hour. Thicken cabbage with the flour. 6 servings.
