When I tried to make it, it came out kind of buttery...too buttery. So, I added more honey to it after it cooled and it was much better!! Nice and easy, though! Thanks!!

What kind of tortilla do you use? Flour or corn tortillas?

These are not the sopapillas I am familiar with, although, they are what is served in the Mex places I've been to in TN. I grew up in TX where sopapillas were deep fried soft puffy pillow pieces of dough (hence the name), served warm with butter and honey or powdered sugar--and I really miss those.

I tried this one but I didn't have any tortillas. I used puff pasty instead. Cut into even squares and poke with a fork so they won't get too big when you fry them. They turned out soft and fluffy similar to the ones Sra. Morales used to make when we were small. Easy recipe to make - great way to get kids in the kitchen!

The best thing to use when making this delicate dessert is Puff Pastry. This is what restaurants use. They are perfect.

This recipe is good but to get them to puff up using tortillas they have to be raw tortillas I personally only use flour tortillas and they actually puff up pretty nice. Although the best way is to make them from scratch out of dough, the raw tortillas work well in a hurry.

No way restaurants do not use puff pastries for sopapillas. Puff pastry is to brittle and does not have the same consistency of dough ND cost too much when all your making is basic tortilla dough . 4 cups of flour 1 tablespoon of backing powder 1 teaspoon of salt 1 cup warm milk. Trust me this one works it's exactly like french beneits. Just look up french pastries instead of all these crazy way too lazy recipes a little prep time and patience but your reward will be worth it and you'll be the talk of the party,,, let the dough rest for ten minutes after dividing in half roll them semi thin at first no thicker than a ruler and about 3 inches by 3 inches .get comfortable then go for the pillows if you've ever been to the French Quarter s you know what they should taste like.
Remember have fun fry well
