1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1 cup dark molasses
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
3/4 cup milk

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Place butter and molasses in saucepan. Stir over low heat until butter is melted. Add sugar and eggs. Blend. Sift together dry ingredients. Add to molasses mixture alternately with milk. Mix well.

Drop from large tablespoon onto baking sheet at least 2-inches apart and 1-inch from the edge of the baking sheet.

Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes.

Cookies should be about 3 1/2-inches in diameter when baked.

Makes 3 dozen cookies.
