PHYLLIS'S DUTCH LETTERS 
DOUGH:

Mix 1 pound butter and 4 cups flour cut in like pie crust. Stir in 1 cup cold water and mix well. Chill overnight.

FILLING:

2 c. almond paste (found in Pella, Iowa)
4 eggs
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix very well and chill. When ready to bake, divide dough into 14 equal parts. Roll 1 section at a time into 14 x 4 inch strip. Take a section of filling and put down middle of dough. Lap one side of dough over the filling, then the other side. Pinch the ends shut.

Place on cookie sheet in shape of "S". Brush top with beaten egg white. Sprinkle with sugar. Prick dough with fork every 2 inches to allow steam to escape. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes.
