AUNT LU'S FILLED COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. Crisco
1 beaten egg
1/2 c. sweet milk
1 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. cream of tarter
Flour to make dough roll thin
1/2 c. cut dates
1/2 c. raisins
1 c. sugar
1 c. water
1 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
Cook until it thickens

Mix first 6 ingredients with enough flour to roll dough thin. Cut circles with 2 1/2 inch cookie cutter.

Put 1 teaspoon date mixture on cookie place second cookie on top and press edges together. Bake 350 degrees on cookie sheet that has been covered with foil until slightly brown.
