HOT CARAMEL ICE CREAM TOPPING 
5 tbsp. butter
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup half & half
pinch salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
vanilla ice cream (your favorite)

Put butter and brown sugar in heavy saucepan. Stir on low heat until butter melts and mixture is smooth. Add half & half and salt. Simmer 4 minutes. Stir in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract.

Serve over ice cream.
