1/2 c. Crisco
1 stick butter
4 eggs
1 c. milk
3 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla or 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla & 1/2 tsp. maple flavoring

Cream Crisco and butter with sugar. Add eggs and flavoring. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add alternately with milk to creamed mixture. Pour batter into greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees 45 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean. You may add 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla and 1/2 teaspoon maple flavoring along with 3/4 cup chopped walnuts. Sprinkle 1/4 cup nuts on bottom of pan before adding batter.
